Daily Deviation

Given 2013-06-05
#occupygeziparki by *onurkorkmaz As protests continue in Turkey, the photojournalism community on deviantART continues to supply us with images and information from the inside, including this moment that pulls the protest all the way up into the windows of the surrounding buildings as well as in the street. This is a breathtaking shot. The perspective is spot on, really pleasing to the eye-it's drawn up and out. The choice of subject is also quite arresting, I feel like I get a sense for what it's like to be there. The color is great too, very vibrant. There is such a sweeping humanity to this piece, like I'm getting a glimpse into something larger. It tells a story, it really is a picture worth a thousand words. I like the quality of the light too, it's very subtle yet piercing. Overall, this is a great shot-I really like it.

Seeing this just makes me really wonder how you managed to take this shot amongst the chaos. Did you plan the picture? Was it an accident? It's making me quite curious.
I'm very happy this is getting so much attention because the message is very nicely portrayed and the way the entire image is based on cleanliness and order. What I mean by this is everything is symmetrical and each person is nicely fitting in each window, this is giving me a sense of organization despite the subjects are clearly symbolising chaos and fighting for freedom which is quite the messy act.

My only complaint is the contrast seems a tad dull, it may just be my computer screen but I feel it might be a bit stronger if we could see the color of the people in detail against the grey surfaces around them.

This is serious nitpicking and I have to say this picture is absolutely gorgeous and I'm grateful to see such a wonderful piece
